The event is aimed at all those who keep horses; from those keeping horses at home to the equine livery or riding school business.
The event will include an indoor session and a practical outdoor session looking at the following:
• Grassland management. Prevention of diffuse water pollution, appropriate stocking density, poaching, in-field compaction, the positioning of gateways and in-field drinkers and feeders.
• Manure management — positioning of manure heaps and temporary vs hard bases.
• Clean and dirty water seperation; stable washings and hay soak water.
• Chemical storage.
• Regulation - What you do need to know!
• And much more
Diffuse Water Pollution is on ongoing issue, with pollution attributed to all types of enterprise, be it commercial, agricultural or leisure based.
This workshop will investigate positive pasture and yard management to reduce the risk of diffuse water pollution, and also investigate the legislative and regulatory requirements which the equine owner/manager needs to be aware of.
Due to the nature of this event please wear suitable outdoor clothing.
