£20m RDPE funds announced

A new small grants fund - the Farm and Forestry Improvent Scheme has been launched by Defra Minister Jim Paice as part of revisions to the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE). 

The Farming and Forestry Improvement Scheme will fund new profit-boosting green schemes that:

  • save energy and reduce carbon emissions;
  • reduce dependence on artificial fertilizers through better use of manures;
  • improve soil quality;
  • improve animal health and welfare;
  • save and recycle water; and
  • promote woodland management by processing timber more efficiently.

Funds will be allocated between until December 2013 with up to 40% grant available on sums between £2,500 and £25,000.  50% grant funding is available in upland areas.  For more information go to the Defra website.
